Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect information in two ways: information you or your program administrator provides directly, and information collected automatically when you use the platform.

Information provided directly: When a mentorship program uses Persto, program administrators may collect and enter the following information about program participants (mentors and mentees):

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Mailing address
• Date of birth
• Education history
• Ethnicity (where a program administrator has enabled this field)
• Meeting notes and session records
• Application and onboarding information

Collection of optional fields such as ethnicity, date of birth, and address is controlled by the program administrator, not by Persto. Persto provides the capability; the program determines whether to use it.

Information collected automatically: When you use the platform, we may collect standard technical data including IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and usage patterns. This data is used to maintain and improve the platform.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate and deliver the Persto platform and its features
• Support scheduling, meeting management, and program tracking
• Generate reports and analytics for program administrators
• Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
• Send platform-related communications such as meeting reminders and onboarding emails
• Maintain the security and integrity of the platform
• Improve our product based on usage patterns
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your personal information for advertising purposes and we do not sell your data to any third party.

3. Sensitive personal data

Persto's platform may process certain categories of sensitive personal data, including ethnicity and date of birth, where a program administrator has enabled these fields for their program. This data is:

• Collected only when explicitly enabled by the program administrator
• Used solely for the purposes of that program's management and reporting
• Never shared with third parties outside of the program
• Stored with the same security standards applied to all personal data on the platform

4. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own commercial purposes.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Within your program: Information entered by or about program participants is accessible to the program administrators who manage that program within Persto.
• Service providers: We work with a small number of third-party service providers who help us operate the platform — including payment processing (Stripe) and hosting infrastructure. These providers access only the data necessary to perform their services and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process, such as a court order or government request.
• Business transfers: If Persto is acquired or merges with another company, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users of any such change.

5. Payment processing

Payment information for Persto subscriptions is processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Persto does not store credit card numbers or full payment details on our servers. Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. By using Persto's paid services, you agree to Stripe's terms.

6. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your program account is active or as needed to provide services. If a program account is closed, we will delete or anonymize associated personal data within 90 days, unless we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

Program administrators may request deletion of specific participant data at any time by contacting us at anaclara@persto.io.

7. Data security

We take the security of your data seriously. Persto uses industry-standard security measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at anaclara@persto.io.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected
• Deletion: Request that your personal data be deleted
• Portability: Request that your data be provided in a portable format
• Objection: Object to certain types of processing of your personal data

Note that some rights may be limited where we have a legal obligation to retain data or where the request relates to data controlled by a program administrator rather than Persto directly.

9. Children's privacy

Persto's platform is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at anaclara@persto.io and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify active program administrators by email. Your continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
